Do you have a big date coming up? Are you getting ready for the summer and the biknini season? Do you want to make yourself feel more beautiful? Giving yourself a makeover isn’t difficult at all, if you know where to start. We have found a great way to get you started. Follow these 10 simple but very effective steps to give yourself a makeover from head to toe.

Have fun!

1. Cleanse your SKIN: Your skin is really important. If you don’t have a face wash or a deep cleanser, get some! Use Proactiv, it really does work! If you have severe acne, see a dermatologist. If you have gym class at school remember to wash your face afterwards to prevent pimples. If you do not want spots then wash your face 2 times a day and eat healthily.

2. Focus on your CLOTHES: Go to your favorite stores. If you want to get an original look for less, go to a [Shop Well for Clothes],stores like T.J Max,Marshalls,Ross, and also in a thrift store. They have some really cool clothing. Also, cheap places like Winners actually have some nice clothes cheap prices. You can also put the things you already own together in new ways. As a teenager, though, a good pair of jeans are essential and go with everything. Buy no-name brands if you can’t afford the other stuff. Bring a friend with you to help you find clothing that flatters your body type.

3. Find a place to put your MONEY: Always carry around money in a little handbag, a pocket or purse– you never know when you’ll need it.

4. Be an advocate for your HEALTH: Make sure you’re at a weight that you are comfortable with. Check your BMI to see if you are overweight or underweight - but just use that number as a guide if you think you need to lose or gain weight. Make sure to eat right too! This means eating lots of fruit and vegetables and avoiding red meat, junk food and absolutely anything found at McDonalds. You need to exercise everyday - do at least 20 sit-ups in the morning and the same amount at night. Go running every other day, this is a great aerobic workout that really works! Other great aerobic exercises are; biking, swimming, even walking! If you don’t want to leave your house, go to a thrift store - they have tons of old workout tapes! On off days, do some other form of cross training. Exercising every single day can add up to sore knees and shins! Drink up to 8 glasses of water a day! This will get you into shape fast. When it comes to the intensity of your work-outs, you should be able to talk but not sing. Over-exercising or under-eating is a really really bad idea. It leads to anorexia. You want to be able to control your exercise and your eating; not have them control you. If you are actually fat (make sure that you really are, a lot of girls think that they’re fat when they are actually at a healthy weight) one way to lose weight is to exercize each day so that you burn off 500 calories more than you normally do each day or if you don’t have the time to exercise, cut back on 500 calories of food each day. When you do that you lose 1 pound every 7 days. Remember, always ask a doctor before you go on any diet, no matter what the diet is.

5. Experiment with your HAIRSTYLE: Try something different with your hair - don’t do the same thing everyday. If your hair is curly/wavy, straighten it. If it’s straight normally then curl or crimp it! Experiment. Go to an upscale salon for a consultation if you’re not sure what to do with your hair. Cutting your hair short makes you look younger, but it CAN make you look too young. You could also highlight your hair (highlight your hair a shade lighter than your natural hair color or dark blue if you have jet black hair), or use products like voluminizing mousse to add body (or getting layers), put your hair up (this makes the face look longer and higher), etc. Buy clips and headbands for more variety. Look in magazines for the new “it” look that can be easily changed, since styles often change.

6. Get plenty of SLEEP: At least 8 hours a night is the amount you need for decent beauty sleep. Make sure you don’t sleep too much.. 11 hours of sleep is just as bad as 4.

7. Wear some MAKEUP: The whole point of makeup is to lightly put it on, and for it to look like you’re not wearing any. Go to an upscale makeup counter at the mall - you don’t need to buy their products, but they can help you with choosing makeup that works best for you. If you want before a special event, get one of thier makeovers, you’ll pay a lot but it’s better than buying ALL the products they let you test! Don’t smother yourself in makeup, and right when you get home from school, wash it off quickly so you can let your face breathe! All you really need is eyeshadow, lip-gloss and mascara. If you have a round face, use blush on the sides to make your face appear thinner. A little cheek gel adds color and shine to your face and makes a huge difference.

8. Do your NAILS: Get French tips and make sure your nails are always trimmed and clean. You could either go to a nail salon or do this at home. if it’s summer or spring, try getting a pedicure!

9. Try to SMILE: White teeth are great. Try Crest WhiteStrips if you think your teeth could be whiter, but beware of using them too much, as they contain an acid that eats away at the top layer of your teeth to get to the whiter layers underneath. If you have crooked teeth, talk to your dentist. Go for a dental checkup 2 times a year, and always brush and floss! If you have many cavities, ask your dentist to put white fillings on your teeth instead of metal ones. This will conceal them better.

10. Think about ACCESSORIES: Make sure that your bag that you carrying with you isn’t “over the top” or too bright. It should be just like you. Also, your jewelry should be light and glittery, but not too eye-catching. It’s okay to buy really cheap plastic jewelry (but beware, they can turn your skin GREEN if you are allergic!). If you are a male, try to avoid wearing too much jewelry. Hair clips or scarves can also add a personal touch to your look. If you like to stand in the limelight, wear something bright. If you don’t like attention too much, try wearing darker colors, i.e. navy blue.
